Top 20 Songs On My Ipod Playlist ( 13th of October 2007~19th of October 2007)~the narration

As 2007 is slowly coming to a close, more and more artists are emerging into the surface. Be it new artists trying to make their mark in the music industry, or artists that have been out of the limelight for the past many years and are trying to make a comeback. Since last week, I've been listening to a few new songs. And among these songs, 5 songs managed to scratch a mark in this week's chart.

The first new entry comes in in a lowly no 16. The name Westlife, to me has changed from a boyband that used to make feel good pop to a bunch of guys trying to leech off every good song that is produced by someone else. And this time, the parasites managed to get a grip of Michael Buble's Home and to be fair to the lads, they did make quite an impressive cover version of the song. Shane's vocal was like always, spotless. But the question remains..is this how Westlife were destined to fade away? As a bunch of choir boys that sings covers? Hopefully not...as they will have a new album out. I hope it is not another album consisting of covers though...

The next new entry is by the British group Babyshambles. If Paris Hilton is the brat who rised to fame because of her porn movie, Pete Doherty of Babyshambles should be her prince charming. The name Pete Doherty is perhaps more synonimous to drug possession than to rock music. Laugh out loud. Whatever it is...Babyshambles do produce okay music from time to time. This however is the first song by Babyshambles that sparks my interest.

I am sorry if the two entries above seemed halfhearted. This is probably because it was written halfhearted. I am more excited with the new entries at no 14 and no 8. Leona Lewis, the winner of X Factor and Jordin Sparks, the winner of American Idol, both released their new materials in these recent weeks. While Katharine McPhee went against what her target market wanted, Leona Lewis and Jordin Sparks both sold their souls to the devil and surrendered to the pop culture, which isn't such a bad thing considering how these two songs are quite listenable. Both are ladies with a pipe that is capable of singing songs with high notes. And both should do very well within these next few months. Whether or not, they will tank like Taylor Hicks, still remains a question. For a first original single, both are doing remarkably well for the time being.

While Westlife is completely guilty of ripping someone else's hard work, the next act is praised highly for his creativity in succesfully turning past hits into new hits. Mark Ronson did it with his Stop Me, then collaborated with Lily Allen in Oh My God (which was also a song that got me going for quite some time) and now he's ready to go to rehab and release Valerie with Amy Winehouse. This song is classy, catchy and nice...If only Westlife could take lessons from Mark Ronson...Laugh out loud

With that said, the top song is still Sugababes 'About You Now' which by the way reminds me that the girls are probably going to have another week at no 1 in the Uk Singles Chart making it their third week at the top spot. Their new album which was released earlier this week is also expected to hit the top spot next week..Cool....
